When discovering a process model from an event log that includes “start” and “complete” events, the resulting model includes separate tasks referring to the beginning and completion of an activity.
When a simulation model is to be generated from a mined model, it is desirable to have only one task in the model per activity (since “schedule”, “start” and “end” transitions will be generated in the CPN model itself based on the given configuration). This plug-in gets rid of these low-level (“start” and “event”) activities by combining them, which can be seen as a rather technical step (default settings can be typically used).
